Protein Drink
Bodybuilding is all about maintaining the perfect balance between nutrition, training and sleep. You need to work your way up slowly and gradually, not happens overnight in this sport. When it comes to nutrition, have in mind that you must consume about one gram of protein per pound of your target weight each day. Hence, on a daily basis, you must consume about 150-200 grams of protein, divided into 6 meals so that it can be totally digested. But if you try to reach that protein level just be eating regular food, it would be almost impossible unless you have a 24 hour chef waiting for you order. That's is why you need to drink protein shakes 2 or 3 times a day, with each one being like a separate meal. If you don't get enough proteins per day, you won't have any progress no matter how hard you train. The opposite is also bad. If you have several protein drinks a day, but you aren't doing any fitness, or just doing it for the sake of saying "I went to the gym today", then most likely you will start gaining fat, because all that protein that doesn't get absorbed is being converted into fat by the body.
The main advantage of the protein drink is that it gets absorbed more rapidly than any other meal. You don't have to worry about lunch breaks or anything like that, just take your daily dosage with you wherever you go, shake it and then drink it. For example, Lee Labrada has developed MRP -meal replacement protein drinks - an instant mix that provides extra protein and nutrients that athletes need. A useful piece of advice is to make your protein drink with water, instead of milk. Although it tastes better with milk, it takes more time to get absorbed and the milk has some ingredients that are not good for bodybuilders.
Always try to separate your meals as much as you can. Most people make the mistake of eating 2 or 3 times a day, really big meals. Your organism can't assimilate more than 30-40 grams of protein per one serving, therefore all protein drinks contain no more than that quantity. Look for sugar-free protein drinks with creating and glycogen. One of the best things for you body is a whey protein drink before and after you work out. This is the time of the day when bodybuilders out the heaviest nutritional demand upon their bodies, and whey protein helps you add more muscle mass.
